The College Edge probably got its start with the football pools I played in grade school. I’d like to say I had some great epiphany in deciding college football would be the only sport I would invest in, but I can’t. What I do remember is making the argument early on, that there were so many more college than pro games, that with hard work, I believed it possible to find mistakes in the “Vegas” line.

With that in mind, 1976 marked the first year I logged the stats for every Division 1A team and have hand-written them every year since then (yeah I know about computers). I have a library of Gold Sheets (my most valuable in-season information sheet) going back to 1980 and have saved my preview magazines from those years as well (Phil Steele’s Preview magazine is my favorite). What started as a serious hobby, evolved into the business know as the College-Edge. I now begin my fourth year having had some terrific highs (a 14-wager winning streak during bowl season in my first year) and some disappointing lows.

I love the challenge that each game, each week, and each season presents and I am supremely confident that the College-Edge is a handicapping enterprise worthy of your trust and hard-earned money. For that reason it’s been my philosophy that I only get paid if our picks win. (See “Home” page for more information).
